Two of the sport’s great dynasties were built in Tuscaloosa: Bear Bryant’s, from 1958 to 1982, and Nick Saban’s, from 2007 to 2023, which won six national titles. The Iron Bowl against Auburn closes the regular season.

Alabama has played football since 1892 and is 1,008–325–44 in the 1,377 games on record here, which start in 1900. The Crimson Tide have finished No. 1 in the final AP poll 12 times, most recently in 2020. They have won 30 Southeastern Conference titles (the last in 2023) and four Southern Conference titles, counting shared titles. The Heisman Trophy has been won here four times, most recently by Bryce Young in 2021. Since 1936, the NFL Draft has taken 309 players from here in its first seven rounds, 83 of them in the first round. The AAFC and AFL drafts also took eight players from here. The College Football Hall of Fame holds 23 players and 5 coaches from Alabama. Bear Bryant (1958–1982) won more games here than any other coach: 232. The most-played rival is Tennessee: 108 meetings; officially, Alabama leads 60–40–7 (60–41–6 as played). This season, under Kalen DeBoer, they’re 5–2.

Officially 990–345–43 since 1892 (per Wikipedia, checked Oct 3, 2026); game by game here, 1,008–325–44 (+18 wins, −20 losses, +1 tie). Our file starts in 1900; the program began in 1892. Official totals drop vacated and forfeited wins. Some games are missing from our source.

No season on file for 1918, 1943: wartime seasons, when many programs didn’t play.

Game by game, 123 of 125 seasons are complete on file. For 2 seasons (1900–01) the record comes from coaching totals and some games are missing, so early totals and streaks count only the games on file.

Records are computed from every game on file at CollegeFootballData.com, whose coverage of the earliest seasons can be incomplete. Elo is this site’s own rating; see how it works on the records page.
