HARVARD TRIMS Penn STATE, 2g-O Big Red Eleven Displays Great Ability on Rain-Soaked Field. BRICKLEY THE FEATURE Keystone Outfit Unable to Stop Grim son Back Field Star-Mahan nj the Limelight. BRICKLEY THE FEATURE Special to The Washington Herald. Cambridge, Oct 25.-Harvard defeated Pennsylvania State by a score of q to y in the Stadium today. The field was ankle deep with mud, and the rain fell in torrents throughout the game and marred any chance for sizing up the relative merits of the two teams. Pennsylvania State was defeated because It had no defense which would hold Brickley in his smashes through the line, nor could they stop Mahan in his long runs around the ends. The playing of Miller. the Pennsylvania State quarter, was the feature of the game. His>handling and running back of punts and his work with the forward pass were superior to anything seen in the Stadium this season. Next in prominence was Mahan, and to him Harvard owes a large share OF her points. Time and again he lodged through a broken field FOR long gains, and his work in handling the Harvard fake kick was a revelation. Brickley did excellent work in plunging through the Pennsylvania State line, and once crashed through center and ran IS yards for a touchdown. Toward the close Of the third period Mahan, on a fake kick, skirted the Pennsylvania State end for IS yards and touchdown.

HARVARD CRUSHES PENN STATE SQUAD CAMBRIDGE, Mass, Oct. 27.-With heavy rain falling on a field covered with mud. the Harvard football team defeated Penn State Saturday, 20 to 0. The Crimson warriors outweighed their opponents. and this advantage on muddy field proved too big a han dicap for Penn State. Miller the Wis itors’ clever little quarter back, might have caused Harvard a great deal of trouble under ideal conditions. Time and again he broke loose, only to slip and fall. Still he negotiated three runs of forty, thirty and twenty-five yards through broken fields The game was a punting duel between Mahan and Miller, with honors about even. Penn State played the cleanest game that has been seen here this year. Not a single penalty was inflicted on the visitors, while Harward suffered penalties five times for holding. Neither team scored in the first quarter, Late in the second quarter Harvard got its first score when Brickley kicked a field goal for the thirty yard line. A few minutes later. after Mahan had brought the ball to Penn States Ave yard line by series of end runs, BrickIey scored the first touchdown after three rushes. Storer kicked goal.
