HARVARD WINS BY Low SCORE Penn State Plays Gamely Against Crimson, but Fortune FrOWnS. Cambridge, Mass, Oct. 30.-The god of battles was with the Crimson war riors Of Harvard in their Is to vic tory over the husky team from Penn State in the Stadium to-day. The 90 coo spectators were treated to the hardest fought game of the season. Only the luck of the game and Penn States ovcranXiety prevented score and probably a tie. Harvard was fortunate TO get its touchdown in the second period, as II came through Ewing’s error of judgment on u punt. He tried to allow the ball to roll over the goal line for a touchback. but it struck him ms he stood on his 12-yard line, and before he could go after il Harte had Shout dered him out of the play and Parson, of Harvard, had fallen on the ball for six points. Until this bitter touch Of adversely the Penn men had clearly outplayed their rivals, even more so than Cornell. for their backs made longer gains than those of any other team which has played in the Stadium for several years. The Penn State men were too anxious to get going. and their holding cost 1lem DNNSlDaN lND NNN’iiNNfF ‘lH’ ~ clearly lost one because one Of their ulavers wrapped himself around Harward man while Bergman ploughed through the Crimson defence for what all the spectators thought was score. The officials saw the infraction Of the rules, however, and Bergman great effort went for naught. Breaks of Game Count. Penn States linemen seemed To have the lump on the Crimson forwards, and the breaks of the game were the fac tors which brought success to the Haughton machine. Captain Wood &c Penn state won The toss. and chose the south goal with the wind at his back Mahan kicked over the line, and Penn state nut the ball in play on the 2O-yard mark. Ewing slipped through Dad, nun on the first rush for a 5U,yatu Gain. Clark found a gaping hole IN the Crimson line and went through the right wing to the 20-yard line. 1eager nnnctured left guard for seven yards and Berrvman squeezed through for FIRST down on the Crimson ls-yard mark. Wallace threw Ewing for a yard loss Ewing tried q forward pass to Clark on Haryard’s 13-yard line. Ewing faileo on field goal from the 2O-yard line.
