Army Rolls Over 65–13 WEST POINT, N. Y, Nov /. Coach Earl (Red) Blaik of Armv threw 48 players-more than four full teams-into admission of mercy today, but when the carnage finally ended his black clad Cadets had run up a fear full 65-to-13 score over an out classed Washington Lee eleven. The farther the Army mentor dug into his reserves the father his pupils ran to score against the Generals from Virginia. The last play of the one-sided contest saw Bob Vinson, a third stringer, race 81 yards for a touchdown after intercepting a pass. 1t was about the most thrilling event of the game for $1,000 who attended Army’s final home game of the season. Washington and Lee, helpless to gain on the ground through Army’s powerful line, took to the air to count twice, in the first and final periods, on long, spectacular passing plays. Charlie Harrington went IS yards for the first after taking a pass from Dick Working, and Vic Marler travelled 40 for the second, also on a flip from Work ing. There was never a chance it would be a contest. Army smashed Al yards in four plays to score the first time it got hold of the ball. Next time, three minues later, it was 43 yards in four thrusts through the Generals porous line. After that came the deluge. Three more times in the second quarter Army’s SIAM peding backs swept to touch downs, one of them on a 73-yard pass play from Arnold Califfa to Rudy Cosentino. Again in the third period they piled up a trio of scores Blaik by that time was getting down to the last splinters on his bench, but his strong-minded young men refused to let up in their efforts. In all, Army employed II backs. Several of them, including Vim son, looked like secret weapons. w. and L. --... 0 Z 0 6–13 Army IL 20 20 1856 w. and L.. scoring: Touch downs, Harrington, Marler Cor BelD; Point after touchdown, Michaels.
