.HARVARD’S BACKS FAST. Crimson Rolls Up Big Score on BoWdOin by Long Runs. Cambridge, Mass, Oct. LIN game much less smoothly played than that against Bates, Harvard beat Bowdoin 81 TO O in the Stadium to-day. The Maine college boys reached the field an hour after the game was schedule to begin. aving been DELAYED en- route. Consequently ther were not in really first class trim Harvard scored five touchdowns, four goals from touchdowns and a goal from the field. One OF the touchdowns came after a Bowdon kick had been blocked. Leslie picking up the ball and making 67-yard dash across the goal line. At the beginning of the third period Graustein ran around Bowdoin’s right wing for 6S yads and touchdown. Still another touchdown was the result of a blockade kick on Bowdoin’s 1S-yard line, the bal being recovered by Harvard on the l0-yard line and rushed over in two plays. The other scores were made on shifty line and end plays, covering the last twenty yards of the opponents territory. The first score made was Frothinghams $ goal from the field. which he dropped from Bowdoin’s lS-yard line. Harvard’s changed rush line showed power, hut not much smoothness. NTKay and Mnot opened even bigger holes than Fisher and Captain With ington did. while the interference for the end runs was particularly good Some long gains were made on fake kicks and quarter back runs, but the onside kicking went badly and only two forward passes Wee completed. although the Harvard men did excellent work intercepting the forward passes of the visitors. Theer was much fumbling, and OF this Harvard failed to take the advantage it should. FELTON, played only d fair game at his new position at end. but his punting was good. In the backfield Graustein was the particular star, and looked more on the DibbIee-De Saulles order than any player seen in the game for years. Bowdoin threatened Harvard 5 goal only once. Then the Crimson blocked kick and scored d touchdown itself on Leslies long run. The line-tp follows:

Two touchdowns and a goal from the field in the first half left the score Is to at the ending of the longer division of the game. In the remaining 16 minutes Harvard displaced her tired players with fresh ones and scored three touchdowns for II more points. 1t was a game repete with daring open runs ana hair-raising fumbles. for which a high wind was responsible. Accurate handling of kicks and forward passes became a matter of great difficulty, and both sides frequently failed to handle the ball clearly. Harvard had the advantage in the open play, though Bowdoin was twice dangerously near the Crimson goal line by recovery of the ball in the open The summary: HARVARD. BOWDOlN’ FELTON, a.
