North Carolina Defeats Ten nessee in Closing spurt. HARVARD BARELY WINS Marshall Field Chicago, October 9.-The remarkable spectacle of a team having 21 points run up on 1t in the first half of a football game without looking par ticularly inferior to the other was played on Marshall Field here today, where the first half ended Chicago 21, Indiana 0. This was the final score Chicago’s first touchdown came when kassullSer grabbed a blocked kick on lndiana’s 20-yard line and crossed the line unopposed. A few moments later Eichorn grabbed the ball on a tumble and ran 30 yards for the second touchdown Forward passes had failed to work until finally Indiana made 30 yards on two of them. Worthwine intercepted forward pass while on the dead run and aided by Kassulker’s perfect interference, ran down the field for the ,n;rd touchdown. Worthwine kicked easy goals on each occasion. Page surprised the crowd soon after by putting a place kick over. A feature of the>play was Pages return of a kick off for 85 yards through a broken field. Chicago failed to succeed in attempts to use the forward pass. Indiana stiffened wonderfully in the second half and Chicago failed to score. Chicago’s compact squad of backs car ried the burden of offense in this half. Chicago suffered greatly from penalties. AtteMpted forward passes repeatedly hit the ground and the Maroons had to meet the consequent loss of 10 yards. Indiana’s one chance to. score on an attempted place kick failed as did Pages second attempt al this for Chicago

WILLIAMS CHECKS CRIMSON. Harvard Barely Manages TO Exc out a victory. Cambridge, Mass, Oct e.-Beneath a sweltering sun the Harvard varsity barely won a victory from Williams today IN slow and undressing game BIZ a score Of S TO 6. and the Crimson supporters were somewhat disappointed by the showing made by the varsity against the lighter Williams team. Though the team was handicapped by the absence OF Capt. Fish from the line, who did not go IN until the second half. also by Corbett and Fish from the back field. close followers Of Harvard’s team looked for big score. Nevertheless Willlams clearly outclassed Harvard from the hck-on through practically the entire game. showing a snap ana vigor in both defensive and offensive work that made her opponents appear mediocre. The appearance Of Capt. Fish in HErwards line al the beginning OF the Sec ond half caused the Crimson 20 brace up and with three minutes playing tied the score by a touchdown and goal Throughout the remainder Of the second half Harvard failed, with the exception Of a safety huke, 20 score, although they forced the ball to their opponents 5-yard line, where fl was lost on downs

WILLIAMS SCORES ON HARVARD Crimson Foot Ball Team Has Narrow Escape from Defeat. CAMBRIDGE. Mass, Oct. Harvard had the narrowest of escape from defeat at the hands Of Williams today, squeezing through with a victory of only to 6. In the first half Williams played all around the Crimson. AS a result of .O’Flaherty’s failure to cover one of Stevens punts, the williams ends got the ball on Harvard’s three-yard line and then rushed It over. Several changes were made in the Crimson lineup in the second half and within three minut Harvard had scored. Minot hit the williams line for several short gains and rockingham got around the end for substantial results. The safety came when one of Minot’s punts went down near Williams goal line. Stevens dropped back of the line for a punt, which he missed and Smith and Morrison downed him in his tracks. Lineup:
