Georgetown. The Rams are better, by touchdown or two. and have more depth. And. incidentally, If George town is going to continue to mix with fast football COM pany, the powers-that-be must see to it that the Hoyas have more than one man per positon. Coack Bob Margarita’s squad is vastly undermanned when it meets two-platoon opponents. The biggest IF” of last Saturday’s game came midway in the second quarter when Ford ham led, TO. Georgetown was on the march and was fourth down and 6 on the Rams Is. Frank Mattingly shot a flank pass to Johnny Hughes, who had a sure first down and a probable touch down ahead. But Johnny tried to run with it before he caught it. dropped the ball and the drive was over. Ford ham recovered the ball on the 18 and drove 81 yards to make it 14–0. The Rams have come q long way since they lost to George town, $50. last year. They have a sophomore and junior ball club that Coach Ed Dam owski has been guarding for three years. There is harmony on the coaching staff. They’ll probably lose to Army by four or five touchdowns and will be favored to beat Boston College, Rutgers and N. Y. U. II Ford ham wins all but one it will be a bowl attraction. mainly because it comes from New York. What those Southern towns would give to have their date line in all the New York papers for four solid weeks. Dick Doheny completed II out Of IA passes against George town, three for touchdowns. Athletic Director Jack Hagerty, last years coach Of the Hoyas, pointed out that Doheny missed at least a dozen passes in last years game by a flngertip mar gin. Georgetown won that, $50. This year his ends were catching and the Hoyas were missing. Fordham won, 42–0. The Hoyas are battered up for the Villanova game Friday night at Griffith Stadium. Johnny Hughes, resting COM fortably in a New York hos pital after q wicked head bump. probably is out. There is no assurance that Guards Paul Wintermeyer and Bob Fortunate will be back. IN the last quarter against the Rams the Hoyas had three players in the game making their debutts this season, and almost everybody else was out Of positon. It was rough. Georgetown got away with something against the Rams. On q screen pass play Connie ODoherty, a guard but for merly a blocking back, turned to see the pass coming right for him. He caught it. made a few yards. Fearing the off, cials would detect he was a guard and call a 15-yard in eligible receiver penalty, O’Doherty lined up in the backfield on the next play with Lou Miller at guard. -WHITTLESEY,
