CORNELL BEATEN AGAIN Penn State 0verWhelms Itha- cans in 0ne-Sided Battle. HARD DAY FOR PLAYERS Nearly the Whole Team Goes to Infrmary After Strug. gle on Gridiron. Ithaca, n. Y, Oct. 19.-The Cornell foot ball team was overwhelmed this after noon by the Pennsylvania State eleven, the score being % TO 6. The game was the manifestation of a much looked for Improvement in the Cornell team. especially during the entire first half when Cornell proved to be more than a match for the visiting team. There remains no doubt, despite the discouraging score, that Cornell has made big strides during the last week. OF fight and punch there was plenty. New formations and plays APP peared on the field, and ornell made clever gains I’m the first half Among the players o’Hcrns attracted attention by his speed and accuracy In tackling. He sped down the field time after time, keeping pace with the ball and downing the receiving opponent in his tracks. O’Connor, though he lasted less than a period, showed the earmarks Of oldtIme form. On the defence Cornell put up strong resistance, and until the second half forced Penn State to punt repeatedly. Difficult formations and forward passes demonstrated knowledge and accuracy today, a result of the weeks work, and II can be noted that Cornell suffered no penalties. A feature Of the game was a sixty-fiveyard run by Bergman from the kickoff in the second period. which placed Penn State In the lead for the first time. The Cornell football camp tonight might we’ll be turned into an infirmary, so terribly battered up are all the members OF the squad who participated in the game. Hardly a man has escaped bandages, visible or otherwise, and 1t appears as though work next week will be more in The hands OF the physicians than the coach The lineup follows:
