    |F FORDHAM RAMS BEST OF FIVE EASTERN TEAMS Yale, Army, Holy Cross, and ViIIanOva Also Un- beaten tO Date Limited Press Staff COrrespOndentD New York, Oct. 26.-UP).-Five football teams Fordham, Army, Yale, Holy Cross and villanova- rule the east. It may be another story after Sat- urday’s g-----as. But whatever hap- pens then, or during the remainder the season, these teams have earned a place among the best in the east this year. Fordham, with a mighty line and an alert, hard-hitting backfield, shapes up as the best of the five Cndefeated elevens. Yet, when the last game of the season is played the Cams may be without their present high rating because of a suicide” schedule. Close Together Army, Sparked by the ubiquitous Monk” Meyer, and Yale featuring that great player Larry Kel- ley, rate places near Fordham, Holy Cross, unbeaten but tied in a string of 18 games extending back to 1884, and Villanova are close behind. The east boasts other strong teams -P t t S b urg h beaten only by Duquesne; Dartmouth, loser to Holy Cross; Princeton, stopped by Penn sylvania, and the latter itself, beaten only by Yale. Of the five perfect teams, Ford ham has had the toughest road thus far and the Rams path gets even tougher from now on. Should the maroon-jerseyed eleven defeat its remaining four ‘opponents-Pitts- burgh, Purdue, Georgia and New York University-or even tie one of them, it would have clear claim to share of the mythical national title. Army has made 120 points against IA for the opposition in four games Columbia accounted for all the SCOT ing -ainst the soldiers. Army’s only ot--ler major triumph was 32–0 vic- tory over 8 weak Harvard team On its record, Army is impressive, but 1t still has to meet five stern foes. Army still has to play Colgate, Muhlenbelg, Notre Dame, Hobart and Navy. And, on the basis of present comparative performances, the West Pointers should come out with perfect record. Eoly Cross has a team of many veterans from last years campaign which was marred Ky only 13–13 tie with Manhattan. It has scored 93 points against 13 in five games Its chief triumphs were over Dart mouth, TO, Manhattan 13–7 and Carnegie Tech TO. The Crusaders still have some stiff competition-T m p e, Colgate, Brown, St. AnSelem’s and Boston College. In O’Donnell it has a great offensive end. Rex Kidd, quarter back, is fine punter and runner. Bill Osmanski, bone-crushing sophomore fullback, is the seasons $ greatest find for Holy Cross. Not So Bad Yale is a smart, fast eleven which has scored 70 points against seven-- pushed over by Navy. Kelley is a great ‘opportunist, beating Navy with his much-discussed kick of fum- bled pun. The Ellis have beaten Cornell, Penn, Navy and Rutgers. They must meet Dartmouth, Brown, Princeton and Harvard. Villanova, in its first year under Maurice (Clipper) Smith, has done well. It has scored 96 points against 13. Its major victims include De- troit, Penn State, Western Mary land and Boston University. It still must face Bucknell, South Carolina, Temple and Manhattan. Smith has a well-coached team fast and alert, with good passing. Captain Tony Sala, at end, is the chief factor in Villanova’s winning drive.
