O’Brien, for the visitors, played a good game at left halfback, and the Holy Cross team had bewildering little shift that seemed to bother the local eleven a lot. BY constant use of this shift, coupied with the poor tackling of the Prince ton team. Holy Cross managed to force the fighting throughout the third period. HOLY CROOSDOWNE BY PRINCETON, 200 Tigers Have the Whip-hand Throughout Game. Princeton, N. j., Oct. 28.-The Prince ton eleven took Holy Cross into camp this afternoon, 20 to 0. The Tigers had the whip-hand of the situation ell through the game, except in the third quarter. when line play and fumbles kept them on the defensive continually They did not advance the ball a single yard, while the scrappy visitors tore through the Tigers for so yards. In the last quarter Pendleton reeled on two sensational runs, one for s yards and another, 70 yards, for a touchdown. Tackle- after tackler laid hands on him, only to be shook off like dust from a flying arrow. Capt. Hart was also a tower of strength to the Tigers. He was down under punts with the ends, and nailed his man with such deadly tackling that the visitors took to signaling for a fair catch when the human battering ram was near enough to strike. The individual playing of the Tigers was fine, but teamwork was lacking. The Tigers used only old formations to do the trick. They gained 2s6 yards on rushing the ball to the visitors ia The forward pass was used by both elevens with varying success. The Tigers broke the dangerous pass of the visitors much quicker than thsy diagnosed the Wheel shift of the visitors. The Tigers are weak at drop kicking. Baker put his first try over, but missed two other easy chances, once kicking straight into the line. 1t was an ideal day for good ball.. clear, sky. and not too cold About 1000 witnessed the oontest

PENCLETON’S FINE RUNS ARE PRINcETON’S STRENGTH Tigers Register Defeat Over Holy Cross, 20 to 0. Long end runs, onside kicks and the forward pass enabled Princeton to de- feat Holy Cross Saturday at Prince ton by the score of 20 to 0. The Wor- cester eleven tore up the Princeton line as no other team has this season and made more first downs against the Tigers than all the rest of the teams which have met Princeton. OBrien of the visitors played 8 good game at left halfback, and the Holy Cross team had a little shift which seemed to bother the Princeton eleven greatly. By constant use of this shift, coupled with the poor tackling of the Princeton team, Holy Cross managed to force the fighting throughout the third period. Tn the last quarter, the Princeton team braced, and thanks almost en- tirely to the running of Pendleton, scored two touchdowns. A 40-yard run by him carried the ball to the four yard line, whence it took three downs to push Penfeld over with it. Two plays after the next kickoff Penfield repeated this run, only this time he crossed the line for a touchdown. The other scoring took place in the first two periods on a drop kick from the 20-yard line by Baker and a touchdown by Dewitt.
