GLOOM AT YALE IS THE THICKEST THING IN EAST If You’re An Old Yale Player You’re Requested to Go and Coach the Ellis HARVARD Is STILL THE CLASS OF THE ELITE Princeton Prospects Now Look Brighter, Following Defeat of Holy Cross NEW YORK. Nov. 3.-With the eastern football teams squaring away to-day for the turn into the stretch. which will carry them into the big games OF the season. reports from New Haven agree only upon one thing-that the gloom in the Blue camp can be cut with “A knife Distress signals have been sent out and all OF the odd grad” coaches available are requested to hurry e. New Haven to aid in bolstering np the team which seemed shattered Sat. urday. In addition the Yale coaches must develop a quarterback capable Of run ming the team In passable fashion. The injury to Cornish is severe blow. Thompson and Hammer will he tried out in the practice this week and one OF this pair will probably d.. rect the play during the game against Harvard. Another big shake-up in the team is certain. Avery, Talbot and ketcham are the only men regarded as being certain u their jobs. Next to Harvard. Princeton TODAY was enjoying the biggest boom OF the eastern elevens. The shift In the Tiger lineup was shown to be a com. plete success in the Holy Cross game. Confidence has been restored to the Tiger camp and the team Is generally regarded as being in much better shape to meet harvard Saturday than was indicated by the Dartmouth game two weeks ago. Phillips will return to his place at left tackle this week.. but otherwise the Princeton lineup will remain unchanged. Harvard still has complete claim TO the class OF the season, despite the fact that she has been weakened by the absence of Mahan. His kicking was missed Saturday as neither Brad lee. Hardwick nor Willitts were able TO break even with the Cornell punt ers. IL now appears that Mahan MAJ not get into the Princeton game. An ahscess formed on his injured ankle and an operation was necessary. Hardwick and Cowan will be out for few days because Of minor injuries. Hitchcock and O’Brien who we’re not in condition for Cornell will be ready for Princeton. The quick return OF Princeton To form means hard game for the Crimson Saturday as the coaches will take no chances Yale has Brown to deal with Sat. urday. and the Blue followers are has. ing their main hope on Brown having a weaker team than usual to save them from another setback. Pennsylvania will have a real test in meeting Dartmouth at the end OF the week. The Army faces week OF driving as a result of the showing against Notre Dame. Just how the Indiana aggregation might have handled the NAVY is an open question, but the weak.
