PRINCETON, y. J.. November d Princeton defeated Harvard at foot bali today by the score of tn e. IL was the first time these universities had me. ca the grdiron in fifteen years, the Last game resulting in victory for a.. Orange and Black by the score OF IL to o. Today’s game lacked what could prop erly be called spectacular foot ball; tie nearest approach to anything causing extraordinary thrill being a run for practically the entire length OF the neld by White Getting the bail on Princeton 5-yard line after the Tigers had twice held the Crimson within 4 few feet OF til. goal, White lodged three Harvard play ers and was off like a flash down the held with the entire Harvard team ia pursuit. Not a man got within striking distance, and II was an easy touchdown. Pendieton kicked eoai. the score was made in the second period, and IL was the only time that either goal was SER ousiy endangered uni. me closing PERIOD. In the closing moments Harvard work ca the Dali INTO Princeton territory anu by pretty forward pass Huntington ~ Reynolds, the bah was placed within 4 yard of the goal On the succeeding pay Wendell got through for touchdown. The TACT that TO A was offered on Harvard, with but few takers, shows what respect even Princeton sup porters had for the Crimson. Princeton, Oh the other hand, was hopeful and determined, but not sangulne. The Tiger team has played such cratic foot hall thus season that even their most loyal friends were dubious as TO the result of the game. But the Princeton lads jump ed into the contest with determination born of desperation and won. The game was hard but remarkably free from roughness. The tackling or both elevens was fierce Especially was this true of the Orange and Black. as evidenced by the unusual number of Harwards substitutions. Neither eleven showed anything eXtraordinary. If they had any tricks, both kept them under cover Princeton did not attempt the forward pass during the entire game and Harvard did not resort to this play until near the end. Nor could either team gain consistently Princeton’s forwards were revelation to Harvard. Time and again they broke through to throw a Harvard runner Ia his tracks, and more than once kicks were blocked. Dewitt outpunted Reynolds on nearly every exchange On the ends the el.Nens were about equal, none of the players IN the backfield being able to run the hall back any appreciabe distance. Harvard twice tried the onside kick, but both failed Wendell bore the brunt OF the backfield work OF the Crimson, but his individual work did not shine with its usual brilliancy because the line did not no d long enough for him to get well started. 1t was an ideal day for the great coll lege game. there being Just enough crisp ness to make the air pleasant.
