Princeton Eleven Defeated IL to o. -0utplayed by Eli. DARTMOUTH Is AMHERST4 And Harvard Beats Holy cross-U. v. M. Downed BY Williams Other Foot Ball Scores Of Saturday Princeton, N. j, NOV is. Yale de feated Princeton yesterday afternoon By score Of IL TO in clean, manly struggle from beginning To end 1t was clearly ease Of the best team playing the best game carrying OF the palms Of victory Princeton had a good team, and every member played TO the limit Of his ability, but Yale was stronger in attack and had defence that held her goal safe. The game was played in the presence Of some $4,000 spectators and while all Of the scoring took place IN the first half, the interest did not lag ia the final period, which was fe plete with sensational plays. At the beginning Of the first half both sides felt each other out in the kicking department, with no great advantage either way. Then Yale began her triumphant march for touchdown, with Hoyt making a fun.in OF ] yards ON receiving a punt. Up to this point nothing Of startling nature had oecured. Ii was up to Yale to show her hand, and she did it BIZ revealing Us neatly an executed trick play as was ever seen on college gridiron. Rock well made a blnh attempt on a quarter back run, hut instead of carrying the ball himself he passed to Leayenworth, who shot straight ahead with the reformed interference, making 3a-yard run and planting the bah oil I1inceton’s A2yard line. From this point Yale hammered away 1T the Tiger line for steady gains, using both tackles, Bloomer and Capt. Hogan, in advancing the ball, until the white chalk marks began to fade, with Bloom II finally going over for the touchdown from which Hoyt kicked the goal It took 25 minutes to make this score, and Yalc’s second touchdown came ia short order, Old Eh secured possession through a tumble on Prineeton’s 37-yard line and then Yale rushed the ball 70 princcton’s 6yard line. Here il WAS Yale’s tuin to tumble, and the Princeton shouts Of exultation on receiving the leather had hardly died away before Kinney broke through and blocked Mil hers kick The whole line sprang after the bali, and Il was LeayenWorth who fell On III, securing Yaie’s second touch down. There was no chance for either team to score during the remainder Of the first half III the second hall It Was i stand-oif, as neither team had any chance 70 score The hest that Princeton could 40 was 70 rush the ball to Yale’s rs yard line, where it was lost on downs, and the nearest Yale was able to advance toward the opponents goal was 70 the 20 yard line az the very end Of the game. None OF the Yale players were seriously injured, and only one man bad 10 retire from the game, while Princeton put III four substitutes.

Amherst scored on a field goal from the thirty-yard line.

YALE DoWNED TIGERS. Nassau colors Bow to Blue of Eli, 4l ND VI Saturday was a glorious day for Yale in football. Down in the little town of Princeton nearly S0.o0O people saw the snappy Tiger eleven do down to de- feat before the steady, strong Blue eleven with It’s well night resistless at tack and firm defense. The field was soft and soggy as the result of Fridays storm, which was a handicap to the light Princeton backs. It was nearly 3 o’clock before the teams lined up for the bick-off. Prince ton started in with rush and carried the ball nearly to the center of the field before being forced to kick. Yale got the ball at her 25-yard line and from there carried it straight down the field for the first touchdown without losing possession. Yale was materially assisted in covering the necessary ground by Leavenworth’s pretty thirty three yard run between tackle and guard on a trick play Hogan and Bloomer bore the brunt of the line smashing in the last part of the march and to Rloomer went the honor of making the first touchdown for Yale in this yesr’s championship series. He kicked goai and it was Yale s, Prince ton 0. Soon after the klck-off Yale began another steady. hard-earned advance down the field and had carried the ball to Princeton’s 5-yard line when Leav- enworth gave the wildly cheering Yale rooters an icy chill by fumbling the ball. Princeton got it and the. signal was given for a kick. Kinney broke through, however, and blocked Miller’s kick and Leayenworth redeemed his laurels by falling on the ball behind the Princeton goal line amid a strug- gling heap of players Hoyt kicked goal and the score was 12 to 0. This ended the scoring. In the second half Princeton braced and the struggle was a fierce one until towards the close of the contest when Princeton, with an entire substitute back field weakened and Yale began to go through for big gains Another touchdown seemed i’m minent, but the whistle blew just as Leavenworth dashed through hole in the Tiger line at the Princeton 21-yard line.
