EASY FOR DARTMOUTH Hanover Eleven Piles Up Big Score Against Amherst. USES MANY SUBSTITUTES Fumbling at Critical Points Robs the Green of More -TouchdoWns. Hanover, N. H., Nov. 2.-Desplte the heavy and slippery field, Dartmouth came back yesterday and pushed Amherst all over the field With the score 90 to in her favor, the Green came back in the second half and piled up q more. five touchdowns by Morey, two by Hogsett and two by Whitney, together with five goals from touchdowns by Englehorn, being responsible for the score. Though the Green showed a great Improvement in their snap. they should have beaten the Amherst team at least 75–0. Had they held the ball al least three times, when they were in the flve-yard line, tho score would have been q points larger The Green have not 10 date mastered the art Of holding on 10 the ball when they need 10 most. Fumbling and frequent penalties formed a big feature Of the game. As a whole. the Dartmouth line showed signs Of what they have IN them. There was a change in the line that has not been seen on the oval so far this year. Together with the change, the Green forwards possessed that necessary punch al the end OF their drive. The back field improved every opportunity 10 go for a hole, and though Heinie Hobbs, Am herst’s coach, claimed he had five first string linemen on the bench, 1t must be remembered that Dartmouth’s first string backfeld was never in the game all at once. Frequent substitutes In the Green backfeld weakened her chance OF rolling up a larger score. on the kickoff Captain Connolly, OF Amherst, returned the ball five yards. They failed TO gain after two attempts at line smashes and sent McGay back TO kick. Llewellyn returned the punt fifteen Yards and ran his team down TO the LIZARD line. Then il was that Whitney smiled a pass and Amherst received life. II was not long, however, until Dartmouth punched her way back and sent Morey over for the first touchdown After this the Green made first downs almost at will. and registered 81 points by the end OF the first half. The second half was much the same, Dartmouth kicking the ball most of the time and succeeding in making long gains through centre and around the ends. Ghee worked two pretty forward passes for forty and thirty yards. respectively. The sensation Of the second half was when Morey ran sixty yards through a broken field for his fourth touchdown He had on the play before gotten away for seventy-fve yards, but was called hack. and the Green was penalized for holding Whitney and Hogsett were botf good for substantial gains at any time the latter taking Whitney’s place at left half and giving up his end position &c Ashton. on the line Captain Bennett and Engie’ horn put up the best games. Englehorr fought like a wild man and tore up every thing that came near him. Behhet played hard, steady game. The Green hackers claim that II I’M Green show the fight they have In then thew will be table to take the scalp o. the Crimson. They have the beer ah’ are getting snapper every practice | Tho lineup follows:
