  COLLEGE STATION, Tex. Nov. S. - Texas A. and M. rose from the depths of defeat today to tie mighty Southern Methodist Uni versity. 27–⁠27. 1t was a pounding fullback, Bob Smith, and a spirit that burned as bright as the sun overhead that smashed the Mustangs southwest conference title hopes and ma tional ranking. Smith scored three touchdowns to bring the Aggies from behind, then left the final glory to little Billy Tidwell and Bob Shaeffer. Tidwell scored the last Aggie touchdown late In the fourth quarter and Schaeffer kicked the extra point that gave A and M. q moral victory in the biggest up set Of the southwest conference season. A.. and MS tie came after five straight lickings and six defeats in its first seven games this year. In ~ games it has won only one and tied three.
