  Bama’ S vaunted Air Attack Absent as Duquesne Bows TUSCALOOSA, Ala, Oct. IL Alabama’s Crimson Tide, relying almost entirely on Q ground attack instead of its vaunted aerial offensive, punched out a 26–⁠0 victory over a hard-fghting Duquesne eleven today. Bama did not even attempt q pass until late in the fourth period, when Freshman Ed Salem, playing in place Of Harry Gilmer. tossed two long ones. One was incomplete, the other fell into the arms Of Duquesne back, Vincent Sundry. Gilmer, taking a day off, got into the game only for a few minutes in the second quarter. Duquesne, an underdog, held the Tide scoreless until late in the Sec ond period when Halfback Bill Cadenhead drove across the goal line from the 8 after q 66-yard drive. The Dukes threatened early in the second quarter and, paced by a 6S-yard pass play from Roger Pa tricio to Sundry, advanced to Ala bama’s 10 before the Tide forward wall held them on downs. A few minutes later the visitors charged back to the Tides 6, but again failed to score. A beautiful demonstration of blocking early in the third period paved the way for Bama’s second six-pointer and Monk Mosely, Gill mer’s understudy at left half, scam pered So yards to score.
