Indispensable Yale Squad Preps For Dartmouth Indians Army Scores Surprising 2O-7 Win But Harvard Upsets Dartmouth Yale Univer sity’s football team, trounced by an ulnder-rated Army eleven full of power and steam, be- gan preliminary preparations today to met the raid of the Dartmouth Indians in the Yale Bowl this Sat- urday. Even though the Ellis have now lost two out of three, there were high hopes that Fuss Me- Laughry’s Dartmouth eleven, beat en in close one by Harvard on Sta urday, would not be so tough. Yale always performs at its best when the Indians leave their Hanover reserva- tion on the search for Eli scalps. But the Army game undoubtedly was disappointing to coach Spike Nelson and his team. Army has been in the doldrums for some time, and few expected such a well-drilled and highly-mechanized outfit that Earl Blaik brought down from West Point. Expect for a furry in the opening period, Yale never came within scoring distance, and the military won, 20 to 2. Capt. Alan Bartholemy blocked a kick in the first minute or two of play, picked Up the ball and raced for a touchdown. That was lal the scoring for Yale against the powerhouse Army outfit which should cause plenty of trouble for a lot of teams. State Title Game The championship of Connecti- cuts small colleges probably will be decided Saturday when two unde- feated and united teams. the U. s, Coast Guard Academy and Trinity, tangle in a Hartford game. The Cadets already have won five games, the latest being 19 to 13 victory over Norwich University. That was the first time the Coast Guard team was scored on this sea- son. And Trinity, Victor in four games, took the measure of Hobart over the weekend, 25 to ‘. Wesleyan, which Amherst in a traditional game this Saturday, won It’s second victory over the weekend against Haverford, 32 to IS. Wesle- van has been improving gradually, but is not given much chance D. gainst a stronger Amherst eleven. The University of Connecticut team, still without a victory for the season, came within Q point of tie against Maine, which won, IA to l3. Connecticut meets Speingfield this weekend, a team which has scored only 13 points in four games. But Connecticut itself has scored only l9 points in four games.
