UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA by Major L. McC. Jones Head Football Coach college coaches from GrantIand Ric& TINE play as shown in the dia. i gram above was one Of our most effective plays Of last season. It was used to very good advantage by Vike Francis, our fullback, against Stanford University in the Rose Bowl game. He made several very excellent gains with 1t. The Stanford guard was very az. gressive and continually charged deep into our backfield This action. Of course, made an excellent setup for the use Of trap plays. After OBJ serving the actions Of the Stanford guard then it became q matter OF The old system still works for Michigan. The punt, pass and prayer formula defeated Northwestern’s great club last Saturday by touch down. Excellent punting placed Michigan in position to chance pass, the pass clicked, as did former one, and Michigan took a 14–7 lead after see ing nothing but their own 20-yard line the entire third quarter. North western took all honors except scoring and they still pay off on the score. Rice, in bad shape, was knocked off the top rung of the ladder by LSU and Dartmouth met too much Harward. Nebraska found Indiana an i’m proved club and TCU wasn’t good enough with Gillespie out to hold the Aggies. Notre Dame is still an unknown quantity with her line looking pretty fair on defense but poor on offense. The backs can hold their own in any company, but need better holes. Santa Clara is still tops on the coast, Texas in the southwest, Duke and Clemson in the south and Fordham and Navy in the east The midwest appears to have two of the nations leaders in Michigan and Minnesota and that situation will be cleared up this Sat urday. Michigan and Indiana, betting underdogs came through nicely last week and the average went up with an 1888 Out Of 80 called, five ended even and nine went wrong.
