HARVARD BEATS AMHERST. The Contest Was a Weird Exhibition of Football. Cambridge Mass, Oct. 12.-The Harvard–Amherst game here today was a weird exhibition of football. Amherst looked about as large as an average school team, and their play was in accord with their appearance. An afternoons practice against the scrub would have been much better practice for the home team. Harvard’s play, in spite of the large score, was ragged and an aggressive team of equal weight would have found little trouble in scoring at least twice against them. The fact that In one fifteen minute half the Crimson players ran up SO points against “a made by Yale in two halves IS robbed of significance by the fact that Amherst played largely substitute eleven-. The score: Harvard, 56: Amherst, 2.
