ATLANTA, Ga, Nov. 16.AUsing the far from prostrate form of the Auburn Tiger as a stepping stone, Georgia Bulldog yesterday slipped into first place in the Southern Conference, with none to say him nay for the moment; The Athenians with five victories and no defeats are just like Abou Adhem until Thanksgiving at least. The lead CTS did not scale the heights without a struggle. There was no smile on the face of the Tiger as he forced the win ners to fight for the six points that decided the annual game in Columbus, a city where big scores are not tolerated and one touchdown is regarded as game insurance. Alabama’s brilliant Crimson, after showing no signs of fading in a sea- son in which all things are expected to come out in the wash, shows signs of blue in spots today. Fortunately for the Tide, that ebbed more than 1t flowed Saturday, the heavy weather 1t encountered in suffering 17 to 0 de- feat at the flying hands and feet of the Centre Colonels has no disfiguring mark attaching to the conference rec ord of the runner-up. The kentucK- ians are not members of the Southern Conference. w.. and l.. Takes Defeat Washington and Lee, the third unde- feated eleven of the 9 in the big ring, was also playing outside, going down in defeat to West Virginia university, 6 to 0. The Generals were downed 63 to o by the Mountaineers last season and must be credited with an impressive reduction of scores from one year to another. Georgia and Alabama play in Bir- mingham Thanksgiving in game that will give the Bulldogs the mythical title if they win, as they would in that event have six victories. A triumph for Alabama would give the Crimson five victories. Washington and Lee has two more conference games to play, meeting North Carolina State in Ral- eigh Thanksgiving and Florid.. in Jack sonville December 6. The Generals rec ord has a scoreless tie with V. r. l. in- cluded. vandy- Tech Close Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech put on a sensational struggle, forecast as toss-up, and developing into just that. Heck Wakefield kicked a field goal of 3S yards to decide the game and either team might have won at almost any stage. The Tulane Greenbacks proved to be legal tender, good in payment of taxes anl customs, by defeating Tennessee 26 to z. Virginia converted a V. P. I. tumble to it’s advantage and scored the only touchdown of the day. Sewanee Wins Game South Carolina and Sewanee played through three stirring and scoreless periods until the bottom dropped out
