LACK OF TICKETS CAUSES CRY. in SATURDAY GAME Several Titles Cinched in Thanksgiving Day Games sa. BALTIMORE, Md, Nov. 2s.- Husky young cadets from West Point, and smart looking midshipmen from Annapolis gathered here today to put in the final licks for the annual Army Navy game which will close the regular season among the big football teams here tomorrow. Practically all of the. big sec tional elevens washed up late yes terday for the season, but the ca diets and the midshipnen as a rule like to have the stage alone and they usually get it. Baltimore is all “het upo over the first interservicc game that the citizens have been able to see for Il trolley ride, and Baltimore !. is also “hct up that so few of the citizens have been able to get tick cts. New York lost this year s. game because the owners of the Broadway playhouscs trebbled the price of tickets two years ago when the boys from West Point and AM napolis, who are. not laden with dough found they had to spend their biggest Saturday night of the year in the movie houses New York didn’ care much about seeing the game but wanted the business. Bal timore wanted to see the game and only two thousand tickets were al tlowed the citizenship. s.; sst5 The Army, because of a heavier and more experienced team. is ruling the favoritc in the betting to win. ss54 .u2i;a i. The cadet squad arrived vesterday and accepted the hospitality of John Hopkins University, where the players are quartered. The Navy squad also dropped in yesterday from Annapolis. but was taken back to the academy last night and will not return until temerfow.i / Several Championships Settled Several championships were deeided in the Thanksgiving Day games that practically ended – the 1924 season Yesterday Missouri won the title in in the. Penn, Yale and Darmonth can claim the first ranking in the east but it is likely that Yale will have the most noise in its claim. Dope Bucket Is Complete ly Overturned By Tri- umph Of Crimson TECH LICKS AUBURN IN ‘ TO 0 MATINEE PrognosticatOrs Find Sur prises In Sewanee Triumph FLORIDA GALLOPS TO 10 TOO VICTORY Reverses Advance Judgment By Walloping Drake Of Chicago The University of Alabama sat on top of the world last night, the undisputed cham pion of the Southern Confer ence by virtue of the crush ing 33 to 0 blow it’s hard-hit- ting eleven dealt the Univer- sity of Georgia Bulldogs at Redwood field before the largest and most coortul crowd that ever saw a game of football IF Alabama. Alabama not only wrecked Georgia’s hopes, but gave the old dope bucket the worst spill of the season. The tide went into the Turkey Day title battle with the odds against it and with the sporting gentry even spotting points. Georgia’s goal line had not been crossed by a conference foe, and it had given Yale the scare of its life. Center only a week aga had smashed Rama, lI to 0. and Georgia came to town all set to take the Champ Pickens trophy. Line Holds In Pinches But the red-jersied boys from Tusca- loosa tore into the widely touted Geor- gia squad with a vengeance that was not to be denied. Its flashy backs rip red off first down after first down its line always held in the pinch, and great reels of yardage were clipped off through the air. Georgla never had chance. That field goal which ‘Bama scored early in the opening quarter ap- peared to take most of the pep out of the Athens team, and after that it was only a question of how many points Coach Wallace Wade’s charges would run up. Given Clean Sweep The Tides victory gave it a clean sweep of it’s conference schedule. Its reverse at the hands of Center dosen’t count, as the Colonels are not ill the conference. Georgia’s team left immediately after the game for Danville, where it meets Center Saturday in the seasons night cap. A win by the Kentucky eleven would give it the unprecedented champ ionship of the south, while a win by Georgia, which now is unlocked for, would merely serve to make trouble for the sporting writers. Although major interest in the Thanksgiving scraps was focused on the Birmingham title battle, half-dozen other games in which conference teams figured were played, some of them again smashing the dope and leaving the wiseacres completely dazed. Sewanee smothcred Vanderbilt, 1G to 0, in game that gave the dopesters as great a surprise as the Alabama Georgia result. In Atlanta, Tech squeezed through a z to 0 win over Auburn in what re- ports say was one of the fierest mat inees of the whole season. Georgia had previously defeated Auburn by the same score, but Rama and Auburn did not meet. In it’s intersectional battle with Drake, Florida galloped to 10 to victory, again reversing the advance judgement of the dope artists. The Chi (Continued On Page TwO.l
