GREAT RUNS FEATURE ‘BAMA’S BIG VICTORY Tide Swamps Kentucky 42–7; Mack Brown 7 Races 99 Yards To Score UNIVERSITY, Ala, Nov. S.-(Spe- cial. .)-BriIliant runs, one for 99 yards, another for ;97 yards and third for 76 yards, featured Alabama’s decisive 42 to 2 victory against Kentucky State here this afternoon. The great work of the Alabama backs and sensational playing by the entire team caused Bama’s one-sided victory. ApprOxi- mately 5000 fans witnessed game replete with thrills. The two longest runs of the day came on successive plays. Hughes, a fleet Ken. lucky back, intercepting one of Gill1s , passes on his own 3-yard line, ran the entire field for touchdown. He was away and had ten-yard lead before 1 the Crimson players knew what had ]; happened. He had clear field to the goal line. The next, play was prettiest ever seen on the local field. Mack Brown ran S9 yards down tte field on Sanders kick off. Brown caught the ball in the l shadow of the goal post, switched to l one side of the field and then crossed i the goal line on the other side. His ] run easily totaled 125 yards. Propst and Langhorne took out the safety man ard e Kentuckians sprawled all over the field. Rosenfeld Stars The final great run came just before the game ended. Kentucky. after being held for downs close to their 4O-yard line, punted. Sauers punt was received 1 by Rosenfeld on his own 24-yard line. The Alabama wall formed. Kentuckian’s s were lcid aside to make way for Rosen- field. The shifty Crimson back ducked, switched and dodged, always waiting for Crimson to slap away men in his path and then sped 76 yards down the field. It was a great game, despite the onesided score. Kentucky. presented two great gridmen in Captain Sanders and Kirwan. They showed little drive, how ever, only netting two first downs in the entire game and these came in the first half. On the other hand, Alabama registered IS first downs. Sanders and Kirwan starred for Kentucky with Hughes, because of his pretty run, com ling next. Kirwan at end was hard pressed by the great interference of Alabama, but managed many times to throw ‘Bama backs for loss. Sanders was everywhere, dropping men here and alwaxs being in the play. Without doubt, he, is one of the best defensive backs in the south, s- Play Great Game As for Alabama, they all played wonderful ball Naturally, Captain Hubert, Brown.
