CORNELL-YALE-SYRACUSE ARE OUTSTANDING TEAMS Ellis Nindicated For Big Prices Paid Coaches-Dartmouth Badly Beaten Navy Trims Colgate New York, Nov 5.-Football fol- lowers found much for discussion in the battles of Saturday in which Cor nell, Yale and Syracuse yanquished powerful foes. The day. spectacular in many contests, came up to full ex. pectations as big football date. Yale was vindicatsd for paying her football coaches $4a.o00 a year when the Blue took Armys scalp, no mean achievement by the count of 31 to 10. By this showing it is generally be- lieyed among Yale’s friends that she should make a glorious comeback against her rivals. 6 Cornell made a great showing against the unbeaten Dartmouth team, ending with a 32 to : victory, and Syracuse took the measure of the un- beaten Penn State team. 10 to 0. The Cornell eleven established it’s right to look to high places in the final reck. oning. Pennsylyania’s victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers marked another step forward for the Red and Blue eleven and put them that much near CT chance to curb Cornell’s advance. Columbia showed marked improve ment in defeating the Middlebury eleven, which tied Harvard. Har- yards defeat of Tufts eliminated an- other worthy contender for the high places. Princeton beat a none too strong swarthmore team, but show od itself weak against the forward pass game. Other outstanding contests were Nary’s 2 to defeat of Colgate. and Amherst’s victory over Wesleyan, 13 to 10.
