CRIMSONS BEAT UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI AT DENNY FIELD BY SCORE OF 56 TO 0 University Eleven Shows Strong Defense And Great OffenSe In First Big Game Of Year UNIVERSITY, Ala. Oct. 6.-Show- ing a super attack and powerful de- fense, Alabama’s Crimson Tide came ! into It’s own Saturday afternoon at Denny field and washed through Ole { Miss by score of 56 to 0. Ole Miss. outweighed. was forced l to wait until the fourth quarter be- fore they were able to register a first down from scrimmage. Then a series of passes placed them In threatening position, but they were unable to score. Accounting the stars of the game would be hard. There was Pete Camp, heavy guard, that scored one touchdown on blocked punt, falling on the ball back on the goal line. Later in the game he intercepted a pass and raced 35 yards to touch down. Pooley Hubert as a signal caller is a success. He Is already known for his ability to crush line His line bucking was pretty, some smashes going for 20 yards. Ben Hudson right end, was down on every punt, one time grabbing the ball out or Hoff’s hand while standing back or the goal line and scoring touch down. Grabbing passes, he did well when given a chance. Batty received his first blood In scrimmage this year. His work, the play of Whitaker, and the Il ne plunging of Barnes were god. Barnes, weighing scarcely 16o pounds, tore through the Mississippi lines for steady gains, almost rivallinE the powerful Hubert in this work. He bids fair to be one of Alabama best. The whole line worked machine like, opening Up holes’ recoVering punts, stopping charges and playlh6 6 game that fairly surprised the spectators. Their full cooperation and fight showed that in the Thin Red Line” of this year, Alabama should have one of the best ever had at the institution.
