Jack Foley’s touchdown gave Wake Forest room to breathe. His eight catches did much more than fill a stat sheet.
The receiver from Bend, Oregon, finished with a career-high 156 receiving yards in a 38–14 win at NC State on October 10. With 7:29 left in the third quarter, Gio Lopez found him for a 10-yard touchdown and a 24–14 lead.
Foley came from Mountain View Senior High School, where his senior season produced 1,082 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, according to Wake Forest’s biography. His college career day came on the other side of the country, in Raleigh. For the Mountain View player, it was eight catches, one touchdown and a decisive part in a road win.
