Knoxville’s former walk-on runs Tennessee past Alabama

DeSean Bishop went from Karns High School to two touchdowns against Alabama, rushing for 159 yards in Tennessee’s 26–10 rivalry win.

For Bishop, Knoxville is both his hometown and the place where he now plays college football. The Karns High School graduate joined Tennessee as a walk-on and earned a scholarship beginning in spring 2025.

On October 17, 2026, he carried the ball 32 times against Alabama. His work helped No. 14 Tennessee beat the sixth-ranked Crimson Tide at Neyland Stadium.

The two touchdowns came in the second half, both from five yards out. The first, with 5:05 left in the third quarter, helped stretch Tennessee’s lead to 19–10.

On the fourth-quarter scoring drive, Bishop converted fourth-and-one with a five-yard gain. He later scored with 3:17 remaining, setting up the extra point that made it 26–10. The former Karns player had supplied both of Tennessee’s touchdowns against Alabama.
