Richmond’s Herschel Turner found 72 yards of separation

The run that opened the game up covered 72 yards. The route that brought Herschel Turner to Nevada started in Richmond, California, and passed through Mt. Diablo High School in nearby Concord.

Turner rushed for a career-high 192 yards on 19 carries as Nevada beat UTEP 30–13 on October 10. His third-quarter touchdown stretched the Wolf Pack’s lead to 23–7.

At Mt. Diablo, he rushed for 3,027 yards and 42 touchdowns in his senior season, according to Nevada’s biography and Nevada Sports Net’s transfer report. He spent his first college season at Utah State before moving to Nevada. The places matter: Richmond is his hometown; Concord is where he went to school. In El Paso, that East Bay route ended with a long sprint away from UTEP.
