Indiana State lost the game. Spencer Conrad still made the other end of the field matter.
The punter from Galena, Ohio, averaged 55 yards on eight punts against Youngstown State on October 10. One of his 67-yard kicks was downed at the one.
Conrad played at Olentangy Berlin High School before Toledo and Indiana State. His former school’s newspaper covered his kicking honors while he was there. The Sycamores fell 57–24, so this is not a story about winning the afternoon. It is a hometown specialist’s performance inside a loss—and the field position his team kept asking him to create.
