With 46 seconds left, Blake Baker found the pass Louisiana Tech needed. Eli Finley caught the go-ahead touchdown, and a night spent chasing Louisiana ended in a 32–31 win.
Baker, from Cypress, Texas, completed 32 of 42 passes for 319 yards on October 10. He threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score, guiding two touchdown drives in the final 6:42.
Before Louisiana Tech, he played at Cypress Ranch High School. His college biography credits him with 65 total touchdowns during his high-school career. Against Louisiana, four more touchdowns helped deliver the Bulldogs’ first Sun Belt Conference win. The lasting picture is the final connection: Baker to Finley, seven yards, with less than a minute remaining.
