WEST VIRGINIA is DEFEATED BY NAVY Annapolis, Nd, Oct. A.-What is perhaps the strongest eleven ever turned out at the University OF West Virginia came to Annapolis this afternoon and went down to defeat before the Navy team, largely through the breaks of the game more than anything else. The final score was II to 7. The visitors really deserved to win the game. They completely outclassed the Middies in the first half when they reg istered a touchdown and kicked the goal, The breaks Of the game went against them in the final periods, when the Mid dies scored twice. Both Of the tries for goals, however, were failures. The visitors also gave a fine demonstraton Of the open game. They reeled off dozen or more forward passes for gains ranging from 8 to 20 yards. and besides they covered considerably more ground than their opponents in rushing, The visitors presented a varied form Of attack that far outshone anything uncovered by the Middies, but the alertness Of the latter in following the ball proved the real telling factors.
