HILLTOPS EASY FOR navy team Georgetown Shows Weak Defense, and Midshipmen Win, q to 0. MORIARITY Is INJURED Big Tackle of Blue and Gray Gets Bad Scalp Wound in First Period. Costello Fails to Gain. MORIARITY IS INJURED GeorgetOwn’s gridiron team had its first real taste OF football yesterday when II lined-up against Uncle Sans strong Naval Academy eleven on the Annapolis boys field. coming out on the wrong end of % to 0 count. The HilltoppePs made a good showing in holding the Annapolis boys to so close score. While Georgetown did not cross the Navy’s goal line or Costello S right foot send the oval between the bars for a field goal. the Hilltoppers made the MiddieS go the limit TO avert score. In the first three minutes of play Moriarity was forced out of the game with a cut on his head, which will keep him out OF the game for two weeks at least. Only one first down was gained by the Blue and Gray warriors, and that came in the latter part of the game. when Costello heaved the ball to Nc Nulty. and the latter ran % yards be fore he was downed, while, on the other hand the Navy boys made first downs at will. But for injuries received on the Georgetown side during the first quarter. a different story might have been told. During the first period the HilltOppers played the Navy boys to a standstill, the ball at the end of play being in Navy’s territory. Use Reserve Teams. Both elevens used almost new teams near the fag end of the game and some of the new men will surely push the veterans for their jobs. Not once could the Blue and Gray back field get started before one or more of the navy lines men would be through and on them. Invariably this would happen when an end run would be attempted. While on the defense the Hill toppers’ line was torn to pieces by the fast, charging Navy forwards. Few line plunGes were tried by the losers. as they realized that the Middies line was impregnable. on account of this, the Blue and Gray boys lost much ground on end runs. Alexanders run through the entire Georgetown team featured a rough. but fast contest. With the goal in site and no one TO stop him. Alexander was brought to the ground from behind by Murray on Georgetown’s 15-yard line. Brown showed his ability as a field goal kicker. when he sent one over the bars from the 25-yard line. Murray, Tor the Blue and Gray lads, put up one of the best defensive games that has been wit messed on the Annapolis field in many a day. Lineup and summary:

SATURDAYS VICTORY CHEERS. But Navy Coaches Warn Charges Oi Faults Developed by Georgetown Game-0if Day for Army. Less than an hour was spent in practice by the Naval Academy SQUAD yesterday afternoon and there was no lineup. The players were in excellent spirits over their decisive victory over Georgetown on Saturday, but some of this was taken out of them by Head Coach Howard and Field Coach Reilly, who gave them something of a talk about the great ndmber- of misplays which resulted in penalties These penalties aggregated over 200 yards, and it was pointed out what serious matter this would have been against dangerous opponent The team has come up rather fast. and is playing strong football for so early in the year The coaches fear that the team may reach its climax too early and will work some of the men rather slowly for the next week or two. A special effort will be made to develop the rUnning and passing game, as the Navy’s attack now de- Pends entirely upon its heavy charging forwards and several strong line punching backs, Army PLAYERS Have Day OFF. Fhe Army eleven. the scrubs and subs” enjoyed daY of rest yesteriday. The gridiron was vacant throughout the usual practice period and the players were all assembled in the gymnasium where Coach Daley went over every play used in Saturdays game against Rutgers. Work was resumed today with spec. ial attention being given to the fault of fumbling which is still appare Mt in the backfeld. Colgate is the next opponent. the upstate eleven arriving next Saturday to try conclusions with the cadets. Both Hodgsou and Huston were back in the scrimmage today. as their injuries, received in Saturdays game, were slight.
