The close of Minnesota’s football season Saturday brought defeat to the Gophers at the. hands Of Stages Maroons by score of 7 to 0. It was hard fought game throughout and the best team won. When the first half ended, the Go pher supporters were firm in belief that Minnesota would triumph in the second half as they had outplayed their rivals in the first half. Many things perhaps contributed to this, but the Gophers were clearly off form both in their offensive and defensive work. They did not approximate the finish or the driving power they exhibited in the Wisconsin game. The team played to the: full limit of its speed and power but the offensive work appeared to lack that vital spark necessary to make it go. -, The team lacked snap and the thrust and punch its offense had shown in the previous games Of the year. -..--- +. r Most of the rooters incline to belief that this lack of dash and vigor Is due to the short period elapsing since the Wisconsin game The team did not seemingly have time to recover from the Wisconsin game and Chicago appeared to be trained to the minute. The Gophers, during the season had found It. nee
