In all departments of the game the . Ithacans were strong, and even their, of7 p fenslve playing was a marked improve ment over anything that DR.. Sharpe has been able to develop this year. The team was able twice, In the third period, 10 : advance the ball to within fifteen yards 4 Of the Michigan goal line, from where ! Its defence, however, did not seem to be seriously affected, for from the time the ball was run back OH the kick-off it did not again reach Cor ! nell territory. In fact, during this quarter Michigan did not get the ball In scrimmage nearer Cornells goal line than her own 2S-yard mark. AT this point IT. seemed that Cornell was bound TO emerge. } victorious, as direct onslaughts twice car | rled the ball within striking distance. With the score tied at points the fourth period started, Michigan punting from the 2-yard line. Exchanges OF punts gave Cornell the ball near the middle OF, the field. but from this neutral territory the Red and White was unable to gain. ! Cornell was still the stone walk that IL had been at all other times during the | game and Michigan was forced 10 punt Taber’s faulty handling of the pigskin at centrefed gave Michigan the ball, and ! at once the Wolverines tried their first intricate play, which, by the way, was the Y duplicate of one that had been successful | for Cornell earlier In the game. This triple pass carried Michigan to Cornells 25-ysrd line. Again the Wolverines We’re favored J by success, and the forward pass by Cap / tain Thomson to Pontius took the ball | over for tally. ..4l Exchanges OF punts. with an occasionat attempt to buck the line. was the proceed ure followed by both elevens during the next few minutes, after which Cornell | tried repeatedly to gain by forward pass. es, few OF which were successful.
