PRINCETON’S SPEED BRINGS JOY TO CAMP Rutgers Fairly Smothered After the First Period of Play. The irresistible dash and speed of the Princeton eleven that swept the heavy Rutgers line to he tune of 81 to 0 was the joy of Princeton today. The New Brunswick team showed n much better knowledge of the game than Stevens, who opposed the Tigers last Saturday, but they were lacking In a suitable defense for Princeton’s style of play During the first period the visitors kept the Orange and Black from scoring, although it was due more to poor g~eneralship on Pendleton’s part tina anything else, for twice the ball was brought within Rutgers’s ten-yard line, only to be lost on downs on futile at tempts to poerce Rutgers’s line. The Tigers showed improvement in line pInnging, but were still none too strong in this department n were forced to depend on the open game for most OF their gains. / In the second period the Princeton eleven let loose and scored two touch downs within about three minutes of actual playing before a thirty-yard ruin outside of tackle by Dewitt and a brilliant end run by Sawyer brought the ball to Rutgers’s vineyard line, from where Penfield plunged over for the first touchdown. On the next Kickoff Pendleton, standing squarelV on his own goal line, raced through the entire Rutgers team for a run of 10 yards and a touchdown.

PRINCETON WAlI0PS FAST RUTGERS ELEVEN Princeton, N. J., Oct 5-Princeton met her old rival Rutgers for the first time in fifteen years yesterday after noon and came out victorious by the score of 37 to 0. The Tigers put up a much better game than against Stew ems, the line especially showing inn provement. Rutgers played a good game during the first half and held the Nassau team down to Is to O. but weakened in the second half and al- lowed what was practically the scrub eleven to roll up q points more. In the first period there was no scoring and it looked as though the game would be close one. but at the end of the second period the Ti- gers had forged ahead. Open field play and long end runs rather than than straight line plunging were re- sponsible for the scoring De Witt pulled off two long runs early in the period and Penfield carried the ball over. Pendleton missed the goal. On the following kickoff Pendleton started from his own goal line and ran through the entire Rutgers team for the second touchdown He again missed the goal. few minutes lat CT, after bringing the ball to Rutgers’s yard line only to lose it by for ward pass, Sawyer ran from scrim- mage from Rutgers’s 45 yard line for a touchdown.
