NAVY STRIKES HARD ROCK New York University Gives Middle. Tough Battle, Dalton scores Goal from Pincemeni and Touchdown-SubSf In First Tive Periods. Annapolis, Md, Nov 1s-Navy went VI against an Unexpectedly strong opponent in the eleven from New York University to-day, but managed TO win. 10 0. after a battle that was as desperately fought as that against the Carlisle Indians last Saturday. The Navy coaches purposely started the game with a team OF which seven Of the men could ordinarily be classed as substitutes. This was done to give / all hands a thorough try-out TO aid In the final selections for the West Point game. But the rapid-fire attack and strong defense exhibited by the visitors iesulted in a scoreless tie at the end OF the first half, and the New Workers had an apparent advantage in general work. But when hostiiities were resumed for the second period all the Navy regulars were in and the middies gradually wore out their opponents Dalton chalked up the first score In the third period, when he kicked a place ment goal at a distance of Is yards, and the same player also scored a touchdown in the fourth session. after the ball had been advanced 20 yards by straight line plays. Brown kicked goal Interest In the Army Navy game is at fever heat in Annapolis, and the brigade OF midship- men has raised a pool OF 5000 10 wager nj even money
