PLAYED TO A sTANDsT1LL. Harvard Barely Noses Out a Victory From Brown. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. November O. Harvard defeated the fast Brown eleven, to 8, today. but the victory gave no glory to the Crimson eleven. they being practically played to a standstill by the Brown combination. Harvard was on the defense nearly all the time. The first half was a punting contest between Burr Of Harvard and Dennie of Brown, Burr having the wind at his back and outpunting his opponent. Browns gains came in end runs, trick playing and double passes. while Harvard depended largely on straight foot ball to gain dis tance. The Harvard eleven was weak in tackling and formation interference In the first half Brown rushed the ball down the Harvard 5-yard line by onside kicks and line plunging. and was in a fair way to score when the whistle blew, and the half closed with neither side tallying. In the second half Burr tried a forward pass, which went to Brown on her 35-yard line. From there Brown sktrted Harvard’s left end for ten yards and then made a successful forward pass to the 15-yard line, from whence the Brown backs took the ball over in straight line smashing. Brown failed on the goal. Harvard then started her line plunging, making a touchdown and goal
