The Brown man 80 out by their struggle with Harvard a week 40. were hardly in condition to cope with Yale a. the score represe ats fairly the merits OF ,bs teams as they met to-day. One Touchdown is true. due to spectacular and brflllsns run by Tad Jones. who caught one OF Dennis,, punts IN midfield and shook OFF. in a 5O-var5 run. every man on the Brown team. Yale used little but straight football Tb. forward pass was not tried once. and the onsida kick was resorted TO only three times. In tha main the Yale backs hammered away AT tba line although in the first half Coy kicked tha ball down to the Brown 15-yard line, in a punting duel with Dennie. before straight foot ball was used for the touchdown Howard Jones was so badly hurt at the verv start Of the game that he had to give way 10 Burch after three plays Brown kicked OF IN YaIss l0.yard line. and. after Coy had put thu ball III rnidfeld by nns run, he punted. After Mayhem had made one first down, Denals had to kick and Coy at once returned the puut YaIe’s ends solved couple Of tricks and Denns kicked out OF bounds at his own 40-yard line Yale barely got a first down IN three snashes and Bomar fell back to try a goal from place. ment The ball went wide. however. and May hew punted out to Yale’s 55-yard line. whencs Jones carried it back forty yards A shift with a double pass, got first down, but funbls followed and Pryor got the ball for Brown. Dennie kicked, Coy kicked back and Brown found the Yale defence too strong. With the ball on the 15-yard line. Jones drove Brides and Coy at the Brown line in the old tandem play and the lighter Providence Iins men were forced back. fighting for every inch Brides was finally pushed over for the frs, touchdown, just before the half ended, and Bomar added the goal. the half ending with the score of 8 to o. Brown worked the ball down the field Just after the score. but an illegal forward pass ruined the chance for touch down. Yale kicked off IN tla second half. and Dennis punted almost at once to Jones on Browns 80 yard line. The Yale man got a flying start and shook of every man on the Brown team until the last five yards were clear before him. and he crossed the goal line between the posts. Bomar missed the goal This second touchdown took the heart out OF the Brown men for the moment. 1t seemed. and the Yale backs found their going lot easier Brown kicked off. and Yale again took up tina kicking game. Brown, with the ball IN mid field, had TO kick after a couple OF tricky end runs were spoiled, and Coy’s return punt put the ball well into Brown territory A forward pass went wrong. Yale going for Dennie. who was TO make the throw. and forcing him TO tau on the ball This was the Yale method OF meet ing the play throughout. but II was erecttvs only this one time. Four times Brown man tuggled the ball after catching II squarey on the long toss. and three times the ball was badly aimed and fell out OF reach. with the con- play. the attempt being made the third down Brown had apparently forgotten the ruls as TO an Illegal pass on the third down. and 80. strangely enough. had Thompson. for the whols Yale team was united in a protest before ha looked up the rule and changed his decision After Brown had lost the ball on an Illegal forward pass, after an exchange OF kicks. Yals started 10 tear the Providence line apart IN an attempt to buck the way to a touchdown from the 4O-yard line. Tho tearing process was rudely stopped at the 2O-yard line, where tbs Brown team braced amazingly for a badly beaten team and held like stone wall. Tha score came, however. as Coy circled Honniss, who was a weak spot In Swayne’S place at right end. and went across like g fash. Bigelow missed the try at goal this time. and the scors 1910. Jones had lot to do with the next touch down, although Dimes was in TO run the team when Coy went over for It, five minutes later Brown kicked of. and the Yale quarterback ran the ball back nearly fifty yards. Yale lost the ball on forward pass line play after an outside kick had netted twenty yards. and . moment later decision seemed TO favor Brown Dennie got the ball on the ground for a kick. and gave II a feeble boot along his own scrfrnmage line, in which case the ball should 20 20 the defending side. Brown kept IT, but DENIES kick was run well back by Jones. who took is to the 15-yard line. He went out on the nexr centre There was little 70 the game after that Brown kept on fighting. aud was better at the end OF the game than at the beginning but the case was hopeless The Judgment OF Dennie seemed TO be at fault throughout the game IN that he did not send more plays at the Yale centre. Ths trio IN the middle Of the Blue line seemed 20 BEoutplayed by the Brown centre and guards. Brown made gains nearly every time the centrs was tried, and Yale. on the other hand. had 10 make ground through the tackles and around the ends. There was one incident in the game. otherwise clean. which escaped all the officials. When Murphy was playing back for Yale IN the second half Yale cheer leader squatted down with his InegaphOne and sent him directions from ths side lines. IL was a fragrant case OF deliberats and unsportsmanlike coaching from the side lines and aroused disapprobation from many Yale men IN the stand behind the offender. The lineup and summary follow:
