HARVARD ROLLS UP ITS LARGEST SCORE Defeats Springfield Training School A 10 o, and Makes Brilliant Showing. FORWARD PASS is USEFUL That and 0ne-Sided Kick Produce Many Good Gains-Loser’s Line Strong. CAMBRIDGE. Mass. Oct. 2o.-Harwards football eleven showed I’D brilliantly today. defeating the Springfield Training School team – to 0-the largest score Harvard has made this year, or for many years. The work OF the Crimson was brilliant throughout. despite a heavy downpour OF rain, which started just before the ball was kicked OF. and did not slacken a bit throughout. once or twice the very slippery ground interfered with plays. but I’m spite OF that the Crimson eleven handled the forward pass and on side kick almost perfectly all the time. Missed Great Chance. once Springfield. by reason Of the wet ground, missed a forward pass, which was perfectly executed, and had Bailey not fallen. with almost clear field in ‘front.’ OF him and thirty yards TO Harwards goal. might have scored. The whole game was full of sensations. with NewhaH’s eighty-fve-yard run for a touchdown, Orr’s eighty-yard gain and touchdown on q kick, blocked kick and a touchdown, repeated forward passes working perfectly. and the on side kick working most Of the time. The Springfield team played a good game. opening up good holes in the Harward line, but the backs were unable 10 get through them consistently. Harward only held the visitors for downs once. while they held the Crimson four times. under the shadow Of the goal posts The Line-Up.
