YALE CRUsHEs TRINITY. Six Touchdowns Won, by Use of Twenty-Eight Men. b1tC Sf ESIAb .-. New Haven, Conn.,. Sept. 2s.-In two very short halves, Yale’s football eleven literally crushed the Trinity eleven and brushed them aside like sc~hoolboys, roll ing up six t%ouctdowns and a total of So points. For less than ten minutes the veteran blue team was intact and substitutes were sent in after almost every scrimmage. Twenty-eight men played for Yale. Trinity got the ball only when Yale fumbled or IN kicks. Yale played the simplest football, using the lightest backs in the string. even for line-bucking. and only three times calling upon tackles to carry the ball. Bloomer. who played first at guard and later at tackle, worked out in his old-time form and laid two or three men at a time on their backs and repeat eddy caught Trinity’s backs behind the line. Kinney. on his side of the line. did SIM liar execution. The substitute Yale ends alone seemed to lack finish. Shevlin played five minutes only. From to-day’s exhibition, imperfect as 1t necessarily was and lone against one of the weakest teams on the schedule, nothing can. be learned exclusively except that in no spot in the rush line, except possibly center rush, will the Yale eleven lack the powerful attack 1t had last year. The backs, Metcalf, Mitchell and Farman, ran well, but were also well defended, helped by the big forward. Score: Yale, SIS; Trinity, 0.
