TRINITY EASILY DEFEATED THE CONTEST fl MERE PRACTICB CAME FOR YALE. Entire New Eleven Tried in the Second HnIf-Piayers on Both YaIe Eievens l Put Up Strong Games-score fi-O. Yale won her second game this season yesterday, defeating Trinity by the score of Il to 0. Trinity was much inferior to her last years form, number of old players having graduated, and the game | developed into mere practice match for the Yale eleven. At no time was her 1 goal in danger. l Yale practically put two elevens into | the game. During the intermission be- tween halves, which were twenty and fifteen minutes in length, Captain Me- Bride, who watched the whole contest from the side lines, picked out an en- | tire new team, with the exception of Gordon Brown, and played it in the second half. While it did not play with the same snap as the first eleven, 1t managed to add two goals more to the score, and showed that the first eleven is as yet by no means. Auchincloss, Hale, H. Brown, Shattuck and Adams NCIC ellioHS lllbot tOlllpO0iiiso Liiio SiCN en and all played strong game. Shat tucks bunting was strong and well dl- rected, and he hit the line strong. It seemed rather hard luck when he sprained his ankle and had to be taken home In a carriage. Hale’s playing also was noteworthy, and the way in which he broke up interference was remarka- ble. DeSaulles at quarter handled the ball poorly and was responsible for many of the poor plays that were made. In the first half of the contest the Yale eleven played an aggressive game, and Gordon Brown, who acted as cap tain, allowed them but little respite from their efforts. Kiefer, Sharpe and Dupee played behind the line, and, ad- ed by good interference, made many and frequent gains. Kiefer especially circled the ends for substantial gains seemingly at will. Leary at right guard also played strong game and once broke through the line and blocked a punt. Fincke at quarter made sure passes, and on the kickoff made sure of his catches. He made a number of good runs. Gordon Brown played his usual game at left guard and in kicking goals show ed that he has lost none of his last years cunning. The work of the ends, Thom as and Sweppe,, was all that could be desired AS In the first half of the game Syphax, who played right half on the Trinity eleven, received an ugly cut over the ear, but pluckily kept in the game after it had been dressed. The lineup was as follows: TRINITY. POSITION. YALE. Brown, Wheeler. .... Thomas, Gould Left Tackle. EenderSon Franc1S, Hale Left Guard. Hill, Barnes. S....................G Brown Center. TRINITY DIES EASILY. Episcopalians Never Put YaIe’s Goal in Serious Danger. in Serious Danger. New Haven, Conn. Oct. 4.--Yale easily defeated Trinity this afternoon at foot ball, on Yale field, by the score of 46 to 0. Not once did the visitors come anywhere near endangering the Yale goal With the exception of once, when a Trinity half back Syphax, broke through between Yale’s right end and tackle and made a gain Of 10 or Is yards, there were no decided gains by the visitors For an eleven so light in weight, how ever, much credit is due them for the plucky game they put up against great odds. The Yale line, though heavier and fYeshened up by substitutions in the sec ond half, did not show equal team work nor the dash that might properly have been expected.
