Co|onia|s Up For Cadets, - Camp Says Purposely pushing to the back of his mind what he described as “the saddest locker room I’ve ever seen,” Coach Jim Camp declared yesterday that his George Washington football team definitely will be prepared mentally for Army Saturday in D. C. Stadium. Physically. CIV will be Ia, which is a term rather mean ingful these days. But there was some question yesterday before the weekly luncheon at the Touchd down Club that Camps forces could snap back from the sad scene which followed the 27–25 loss to West Virginia last Saturday. Over Disappointment Were over it now” Camp said about the disappointment, but I’ll tell you these kids wanted that game worse than any football game ever played. II think, If anything, it will help them against Army” the coach continued. “Of course, it would have been much better if we had won, but even though we lost the game, the team proved to itself it can play with the so-called big boys” Camp later expanded on the subject of the East’s No. l. ranked team for the benefit Of an overflow crowd of Colonials, Inc. boosters in the dining room. I’ll tell you about Army” Camp said. They’re darn worried after the way we played at West Virginia and after virginia Tech held them to a 20 IL score. Snappy In Practice There’s a clause in all Army game contracts that says they can cancel a game in the case of a national emergency, and darned if President Kennedy didn’t get on television last (Monday) night and declare a state of national urgency” Camp didn’t intend to deal frivolously with the situation in the Caribbean, but the remark brought down the house The Touchdown Club had pre-. pared for a maximum Of 81 guests and 70 showed up tt eat and listen land applaud with vigor.
