George Washington University may play some of its home football games next season on Saturday afternoons at the new stadium, a departure from the Friday night dates of recent years. The Colonials have been playing Friday nights to get away from competition presented by a big game free on television Saturday afternoons. Athletic Director Bob Faris said yesterday, however, that the combination Of the new sta dunn plus the rise of CIV foot ball fortunes under the new head coach, Bill Elias, makes it worthwhile to consider Saturday afternoon games. FariS hasn’t released next years schedule pending a decision on what dates the Colonials can get at the new stadium, but there will be only minor changes. Florida State and Furman will be added dropping Florida University and the Air Force Academy. For 1862, the schedule gets tougher, with Army at West Point, plus Brigham Young and Florida U. back on the slate. Faris and Elias were speakers yesterday at the Colonials Quarterback Club luncheon which drew an overflow crowd to the Touchdown Club in Gel ebration Of GW’s Unexpectedly good year. Movies of GW’s 26–0 victory over West Virginia were shown the crowd. Elias said he prefers to play q tougher schedule than those currently presented by CIV, declaring, I’D rather get beat
