Alabama Halls Losing Streak by Defeating Mississippi State, 10 STARKVILE, Miss. Oct. 27.- Alabama suddenly found its long lost punch in the second quarter today and pierced Mississippi’s States sturdy football defense for TO victory. For Coach Red Drew’s Alabama team 1t was the end of a four game losing streak-the longest since 1910. For Alabama’s future Southeastern Conference foes it was fair warning to watch a junior named Clell Hobson. The stocky signal caller fired the Alabamans into action after a dull first period dominated by Mississippi State. Hobson abandoned the bruising ground game midway of the second period and took to the air. His touchdown drive. a 71-yard push. paid of on a quick 18-yard toss to Larry Chiodetti who sliced through the Mississippi secondary to take it on the State 20 and scamper across for the lone touch down. Red Lutz converted. Mississippi State didn’t give up until 80 seconds before the final whistle after four straight pass at temptS from the Alabama Is failed. Mississippi State staged two other scoring threats but faltered inside the Alabama 10 both times. The first march rolled up 70 yards before it came to grief on the Alabama eight. when a fourth down effort failed to make the needed two yards.
