Sill Has Slim Bowl Hopes;; Saturday 10 Tell The University of Washington stood as the lone contender for the Rose Bowl in the northern division of the Pacific Coast conference to- day and it lay it’s slim hopes on the line Saturday in Seattle against another contender, the Stanford Indians. Washington looked like no pushover for Stanford after holding Illinois to a 27–20 victory, snatched in the closing minutes on fourth-down, 14-yard pass. Coach Howie Odell said after the game: I’m not sure we didn’t play the Big Ten champions.
