Drive BY California Beats Washington State PULLMAN, Wash, Oct. 13.- Matched and checkmated through a wild first half by the Cougars of Washington State. Johnny Oh szewski and the California Bears cracked through for 81 third-period points today and hung on grimly for a 1926 Pacific Coast Conference football victory. A lot of the gilt had been rubbed of the Golden Bears ranked second in the Nation when they came back to start the second half all even with the Cougars at 81 to 81. A crowd Of $4,000. huddled in the intermittent rain, saw its hopes for the upset of the day in the Nation fade suddenly as Olszewski dashed 80 yards to the tie breaking touchdown on the second play Of the half. Smashing wide holes in a line they had rarely been able to dent in the first half, the Bears chopped out two more touch downs. Skipping and dodgine through the rain, Olszewski went |28 yards and then Harry West broke into the clear and added 4s more to make it a two-play goal.
