Undefeafed Clemson Smothers WinIess Boston College, 35–14 BOSTON. Nov. 1.-THE undefeated Clemson Tigers smothered the winless Boston College team, 35 to II. today with a sparkling third-period demonstration Of running and passing. The single-wing dashes Of the Southern backs rolled up 304 yards much of it in the third quarter, as the Tigers rung up four quick touchdowns. The smashes of Fullback Fred Cone and the swivel-hipped runs of Jackie Calvert and Billy Hair softened up the BIC frontier. When Hair and Calvert took to the air they had little difficulty finding their receivers. The small crowd Of 9,606 fans saw a first half that featured only one touchdown. Cone banged over from the two-yard line after 13 minutes of play. Hair Races So yards. In the third quarter. however. the Southerners uncorked a quick assault. Hair took the ball on his own 32-yard line and broke through scrimmage for a twisting 68-yard run into the end zone. Billy Rad cliff converted, as he did after all five Clemson touchdowns. On the ensuing kickoff. BIC fumbled after one play and Glenn son took over on the Eagles 80. Cone and Hair alternated in rush. ing until the big fullback carried over from the two to make the score 81 to nothing. A fourth touchdown followed quickly when BIC failed to gain and lost the ball on downs, Jackie Calvert tipped from the BIC 40 to End Bob Hudson who took it unmolested on the Eagles five and waltZed across for a I’d McBride’s Passes Aid BIC. Glenn Smith caught a pass for the fifth Clemson touchdown with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. Coach Frank Howard then gave his second stringers a chance to get warm.
