(forfeited). The football season was well launched Saturday afternoon when all of the big teams had serious propositions 10 face. AS usual the day brought out some very interesting developments. beside being “A gala day for the coaches, who are looking for the weak spots OF their charges. The result OF the day finds both JOY and disappointment In the camps of the diff ferent gridiron warriors. None OF these feelings, however. are more than skin deep at this time OF the season. All OF the big elevens triumphed against their weaker adversaries. The Importance of victories I’m these early season games. against minor college elevens. is, however, as a rule. overestimated. Saturdays game was a disappointment for Brown. Although Brown could hard ~ have expected a victory In the face OF the unfortunate circumstances that sur rounds her football this season, yet not Ia score against the Syracusians was a pill altogether too bitter 10 be swallowed. The team will surely have 10 get its fighting spirit as well as fighting clothes I’m order to make a craditable showing against the University Of Pennsylvania team at Philadelphia Saturday. There are many things that Brown can not help owing TO the scarcity of Varsity material. but tho fumblng. that was conspicuous Saturday should have been remedicd before this date. Manhattan College will be the adversary Of the Brunonians Wednesday end al though the college is a small one IL puts up- good game OF football.
