OOOIllcIA Adl11Ol1ud dIlu hdnsas, cunning for the Pacific Coast conference and Big Six titles respectively, also remained among the unbeaten although ties mar their records. Southern Cali fornia, which faces U.C.L.A. in the big game of the week Saturday, was idle Saturday but Kansas came from behind to overcome Oklahoma A. & M, 1877. A victory over U. c. L. A. will assure Southern California a place in the Rose Bowl opposite the might Michigan Wolverines who won the Big Nine crown and an automatic New Years invitation to Pasadena by slaughtering Wisconsin 4O-6. Bob Chap puts, Michigan’s great back, threw three touchdown passes in the rout and boosted his chances for an All-America berth. The UCLANS served notice that they will be no soft touch for the Trojans with a smash ing 34–7 triumph over the Uni versity of Washington. The Huskies battled Southern California all the way before succumbing 1910 several weeks ago. California, the third Coast club with a chance for Rose Bowl honors, flattened Montana 60–14 and take on Stanford, Zig losers to Oregon, Saturday in it’s finale. Alabama’s bowl stock rose considerably as hurting Harry Gilmore led the Crimson Tide to a 14–7 victory over Georgia Tech. Utah’s bubble was ricked by Idaho, 1876. PENIS ponderous Quakers had hoped to avenge their beatings of past seasons at Army’s hands but found the Cadets line too formidable. Despite the nom league tie, the Quakers captured the Ivy League championship when Princeton’s Tigers clawed Yale 40. Princeton, previous winner over Harvard, nailed down the ancient “Big Three” pennant with it’s conquest. Southern Methodist and Texas, two of the most sought after teams for Bowl berths, continued their one-two positions in the hectic Southwest Conference race. The All-winning Methodists downed Arkansas 1916 while once beaten Texas bowled over Texas Christian 200. Penn State proved it’s merit by defeating Navy 20–7 as Jeff Durkota galloped 48 and AZ yards for touchdowns on perfectly exc cuted reverse plays. Notre Dame, “down” after its Army victory, found North western a rugged foe again. The Wildcats, always have been tough for Notre Dame and the Irish needed all of their 20–6 halftime lead to finally prevail 26–19. The game proved the Irish are human, too, and served as an inspiration for Tulane and Southern California, last two foes for Notre Dame. Tulane was tied IT by Florida. That surprising feat by Florida was one of at least II form reversals of yesterday. Biggest upheavals of them was Tennessee’s 1918 trouncing of Boston College for the Vols first major win; Iowa’s 1877 victory over Minnesota, II hours after Hawk Coach Eddie Anderson had offered to resign; Okla homa’s 21–12 conquest of Missouri, which dropped the Tigers off the Big Six throne; North Carolina States 200 edge over Wake Forest; Citadel’s 7–6 squeeze over Virginia Military; Washington States 14–13 defeat OF Oregon State; and S u h Cardinals 90 deadlock with Duke. Also rated as upsets according to point charts of bookmakers were Harvard’s 1877 victory over Brown; Syracuse’s 10 win over
