VANDY LEADS SEC BEATING OLE MISS NASHVILLE, Tenn, Oct. II. -UH-Vanderbilt’s man with the magic toe, Zach Clinard, place. kicked the Commodores to the head of the Southeastern Conference class today when his boots provided the difference in a stirring 10 to 6 victory over Mississippi. Clinard, whose field goal enabled Vanderbilt to upset Moth western in the seasons opener, sailed a three-pointer through the bars in the first period today before a cheering crowd of %, 500 and the Commodores were never headed. But Mississippi’s Charley Conerly, a threat every time he pitched or booted the ball, kept the previously unbeaten Rebels in the ball game all the way. Vandy had to match an Ole Miss touchdown to gain the vic tory by the margin of Clinard’s field goal and an extra point. The win marked Vanderbilt as the team to beat for the conference championship as the Commodores have decisions over Alabama and Mississippi as well as Northwestern and have not been beaten. Only Georgia Tech has as good a record in the sec. Score By Periods Mississippi 30 0 g. 6 Touchdowns: B. Berry; Bowen. Field goal: Clinard. Points | after touchdown: Clinard.
