LINING up FOR GAME, ROSE BOW! SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 13.-lR- Championship contenders for Paci- fife Coast Conference football hon. OTIS let fly their heavy punches this weekend-and the survivors will be a notch closer to the Rose Bowl, where mighty Michigan no doubt will be waiting New Years Day. The Big Nine Coast Conference pact pits the two league winners and at this writing. Michigan is the popular favorite to make the grade from the middle west. Most important of the coast clashes will be the meeting of Southern California and Oregon State. The use Trojans handcuff- ed Washington State in their league contest, tied Rice and wal loped Ohio State in stride. The Beavers of the north ran up 33- win over Idaho last week but will have the disadvantage of meet ing Southern California in Los An geles, local grounds usually favor ing the home team. The title-defending University of California at Los Angeles Bruins, with a 24–7 win over Oregon to their credit, travel to Palo Alto to take on a weak Stanford eleven. It should be two in a row for UCLA the hapless Indians lost to Santa Clara last week, their third defeat in as many weeks and may floun- der through their worst season in years.
